Wolf Haven receives no federal or state funding, and we depend on YOU to help us carry out our mission of conserving and protecting wolves and their habitat. Volunteers help to increase understanding, appreciation, and conservation of wolves and wildlife. They serve as ambassadors in the community, promoting Wolf Haven, wolves, and native prairie species.

Winter 2025/2026

MJ was born and raised in Japan, where she experienced an abundance of wildlife nearby. She grew up dreaming of being a park ranger in Africa and after graduating high school, she moved to Los Angeles to begin volunteering at Wildlife Waystation. She worked with everything from local wildlife to gray wolves. MJ also began her professional life in the animal world there, transitioning from work as a paralegal to a veterinary technician while also expanding her resume of volunteer work to include becoming a whale watching naturalist at the Aquarium of the Pacific and a puppy educator at Guide Dogs of America. After moving to Washington in 2021, she continued to prioritize volunteering by becoming a San Juan Island Marine Naturalist, a TSA K9 decoy volunteer at SeaTac Airport, and of course, an educator at Wolf Haven. MJ believes that education is the most powerful tool we can provide to inspire respect and commitment to protect wolves for future generations.

Kaye

I was a volunteer for Wolf Haven for about 12 years and I have to say that I received more from my volunteer experience than I gave. My fellow volunteers and the staff have all been wonderful and have supported me in ways unlike any other organization for which I acted as a volunteer. While the wolves don't send thank you cards, they provide some of the most wonderful appreciation that could ever come to us.

Jennifer

Being a volunteer at Wolf Haven allows me to participate in advocacy for a species that I care deeply about in hands-on ways. I never tire of being in the presence of these magnificent animals and talking about them with sanctuary visitors or at community events. My work at Wolf Haven has allowed me to integrate my passion into my everyday life.

Robin

My volunteer service began 9 years ago, and I've loved every moment I've spent at Wolf Haven. There are many different roles for volunteers, which makes it easy for everyone to find opportunities that suit their preferences and abilities. The skill, knowledge, and kindness of the staff and fellow volunteers is a testament to the fact that Wolf Haven is a place for people who care about wolves, wildlife, and other people.
