ABOUT US
Wolf Haven International is a globally recognized wolf sanctuary that has provided a lifetime home for over 325 displaced, captive-born animals since 1982 under the mission: "conserve and protect wolves and their habitat.”

Many of the wolves and wolfdogs relocated to Wolf Haven come from private ownership, while others come from zoos, roadside attractions, and other unfortunate situations. At our sanctuary, they are given exceptional care, quality food, a variety of enrichment items, companionship with other canids, and progressive medical treatment. We also offer educational programs about wolves and wildlife; promote wolf restoration in historical ranges; and work to protect remaining wild wolves and their habitat.

Wolf Haven is accredited by both the American Sanctuary Association and the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. In 2024, Wolf Haven became the honored recipient of the Outstanding Wildlife Sanctuary Award, chosen from over 200 sanctuaries worldwide for exceptional sanctuary, education, and conservation work.

Sanctuary
Wolf Haven is a hands-off sanctuary, which means our animal care staff do not socialize with the wolves. There is also absolutely no physical contact between visitors and the animals under any circumstances. We operate under a philosophy and guiding principle that considers all aspects of an animal's well-being, ensuring our residents are treated with compassion, respect, and dignity every day. Visits to our Tenino sanctuary are by advanced reservation only. Our McCleery Ranch sanctuary is closed to the public.

Education
Wolf Haven reaches thousands of people annually through sanctuary visits and education. Our curriculum not only focuses on the wolf and its role in the wild, but also raises the level of environmental literacy in people of all ages. We use both onsite and offsite classroom visits, bilingual presentations in English and Spanish, and community outreach methods to connect people to nature.

Conservation
Wolf Haven is a clear and persistent voice for wolf conservation and coexistence in the wild, and advocates for sustainable solutions that not only protect wolves but also minimize wolf-human conflicts and dangers to livestock. Wolf Haven participates in two federally-managed Saving Animals From Extinction recovery programs for the critically endangered American Red wolf and Mexican wolf, and serves on the Wolf Advisory Group (WAG) for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
